Do you live in the present? Being mindful and present sounds great, yet it takes some doing. If you want to learn how, you must practice. These simple ways can help.

Try These Simple Tips to Live in the Present
Most people believe they live in the present. I like to think that I am present, and I’d be willing to say you believe that about yourself, too. But life often gets in the way. Distractions, emotions, chores, projects, and family responsibilities all take a toll. However, you can learn to live in the present and live your best life.

Strive to Be Here Now
To be present, you must be here now. These are such simple words. Yet how often is it difficult to put aside pressing concerns and be present? Like how to deal with a demanding boss? Honestly, it’s more frequent than you think. And it makes it harder to enjoy life.
But isn’t it necessary to tend to concerns? Besides, isn’t this part of being a responsible person? The answer is, of course, and sometimes – but not always.
“Be here now.” – Ram Dass.
Maintaining the balance in life between responsibility and fulfilling your obligations is tricky. Yet, this is a skill that you can learn. However, if you’re used to putting off the inevitable, you’ll find this challenging. Getting past this hurdle can be problematic, but it is doable.

How to Live in the Present
How can you learn how to be here now? Ask yourself this: Are you present? If you have trouble answering, you already have the answer.
You’re likely more focused on the past or worried about the future. But neither of these qualifies as being truly present. Once you realize this, how do you stop it and begin to live in the present? Try these tips:
Get Rid of Unnecessary Tasks
Delegate what you can. Alternatively, rearrange your schedule so you don’t have so much that needs your attention now.
- By streamlining your to-do list, you’re also simplifying your life.
- This makes it easier to devote your full attention to what you’re currently working on.
- Besides, when you make life simpler, you free your ability to be more present.

Do the Best You Can
And don’t worry about failure. Besides, not everything you do will be completely successful the first time. That’s OK. What you learn from setbacks is often more important, valuable, and lasting than immediate achievement.
- Always do your best.
- Be entirely focused on the task or job.
- Furthermore, after you do your best, don’t worry if it could be better. Just learn from this and apply it next time.

Remind Yourself to Breathe
Do you know that anxiety and worry make you breathe shallowly? This isn’t good for staying in the present. You might start worrying that you’re having a heart attack or coming down with something. Also, anxiety and worry can affect your physical well-being and the job or task you’re supposed to be doing.
- Take deep breaths and hold them in for a count of 10 before exhaling slowly.
- Do this regularly. Deep breathing helps restore calm, quiet your nerves, and bring you back to the present.
- Besides, getting more oxygen into your lungs produces a tremendous calming capacity. This improves your ability to live in the present.

Celebrate Life to Live in the Present
It’s worth remembering that life is incredibly short. So, it makes a great deal of sense not to sweat the small stuff.
- Importantly, acknowledge and be thankful for life itself. Gratitude is incredibly restorative. You can even do this while meditating. Additionally, meditating is a fantastic way to find further motivation.
- The fact that you’re breathing now and able to do things freely is a gift.
- Finally, celebrate life in the present. This will help you fully live in the present while acknowledging the preciousness of life.
