Best Ways to Use the Power of Wonder
Humans are unique in their power of wonder, so everyone should tap into its profound benefits. However, what is wonder, and how can we use it to create joy in life?
As a noun, the Oxford dictionary defines wonder as “a feeling of surprise, mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable.” As a verb, wonder means “desire or be curious to know everything” and “feel admiration and amazement; marvel.” Therefore, the feeling of wonder and the act of wondering are marvelous.

Wonders are Everywhere
Furthermore, wonders are everywhere. Whether ancient or modern, newly developed, discovered, or produced, wonders exist to:
Be wondered at
To inspire
Encouraging us to imitate
Compelling us to act
Besides, they’re meant to be shared, revered, preserved, and protected. For this to happen, however, requires a sense of wonder for wonder. If you learn one new thing daily, let wonder be a part of your life.
Nevertheless, how many of us ever think about that?

Explore the Power of Wonder
Curiosity about the unknown, the tantalizing, the just-out-of-reach motivates some to go beyond their comfort zone. Additionally, we want to experience something new, test limits, and broaden our capabilities. Most of all, it is an innate part of our human nature that allows us to explore, discover, and be enriched by the unknown. In the process, we may even discover our potential.
It’s curious how we don’t wonder more about such things.

Exploring the World’s Wonders
If you’re fascinated by the world’s wonders, why not explore some? However, the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World are all gone, except for one: the Great Pyramid of Egypt. Although that’s too bad, it’s still worth learning about these magnificent constructions.
Nevertheless, there are the Seven Wonders of the World and the Seven Wonders of the Modern World to explore. Machu Picchu, the Great Wall of China, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Empire State Building are probably the most well-known of these lists. I’ve been to the last two, plus Chichén Itzá (one of the Seven Wonders of the World).
Fantastic Learning Opportunities
Moreover, our visit to Chichén Itzá with two of our four children illustrates how incredibly rich such a travel day visit can be. Although the ride there was long and the temperature was hot, the payoff was extraordinary. We wandered through the ruins (then still readily accessible), took photos, and wondered at the lost Mayan civilization.
Not only that, but both children did special reports for school on the ruins and received As. Furthermore, we still talk about that memorable trip, what we learned, how exciting it was, and what the ruins taught us. Our experience of adventure and wonder is something we treasure.

How I Enjoy Wonder
I regularly engage in wonder. For example, I wonder what I can do if I try to do something others say is beyond me. Furthermore, I’m intrigued if this is the first time I’ve learned about and done it. My past attempts at complicated projects and challenges haven’t always been successful, but that never stops me.
I wonder why that is.

Use Your Power of Wonder Wisely
Fortunately, humanity has an insatiable curiosity and desire to discover and explore. So, despite uncertainties, risks, and potential danger, the allure of the unexpected, unfamiliar, inexplicable, and beautiful is undeniable.
Thank goodness for that. As a species, without the ability to experience a sense of wonder at all the wonders in the world, known and unknown, we’d have perished long ago.
Finally, the power of wonder is amazingly beneficial for everyone. Use it wisely and often.
